Here at Nutra HQ, we’ve been talking about, thinking about and implementing acts of self-love. It’s an important conversation to have with yourself, what does self-love mean for you. One of the things that has been brought up time and time again, is the importance of having greenery all up in our face. Yes, we know that eating our greens is important, and keeping our bodies nourished with all the goodies that nutritional greens provide is a simple act of self-love that is so important for a long and healthy life. But what about the physical space that you surround yourself with? This has a direct impact on your well-being, and injecting that space with greenery can make an instant change! And here’s why:
Plants are pretty
Let’s just get the obvious out of the way. Plants are beautiful, and whether your thumb is a lovely shade of green or erring more on the side of black, we can assure you that you will be able to find a plant that will suit your taste and plant-parent skill level. There are so many low-maintenance options out there, some plants literally thrive on being left to their own devices, so don’t let the idea that you will be investing lots of time into your plants hold you back. Plants will instantly breathe fresh life into your space, which brings us to our next point.
Improved air quality
There have been a number of studies (including by NASA and they know their stuff) into plants and the effect they have on the quality of air. Certain plants help clear the air and remove volatile compounds such as ozone and carbon dioxide from your space, meaning you can breath easy.
Natural Scents
Speaking of breathing easier, who doesn’t love being enveloped in a beautiful scent? Some plants not only look absolutely gorgeous but also have a beautiful fragrance too, bringing delightful scents straight from nature to your nose. Better yet, if you have trouble sleeping, plants like jasmine and lavender have been found help you head off to the land of nod, so place some on your bedside table and enjoy a naturally soothing sleep-aid.
Becoming a plant parent fosters a sense of well-being
If you haven’t already heard about the crazy plant-lady (or gentleman), you have now. It’s a well-known fact in crazy plant person circles that once you get one plant, you literally won’t be able to stop. Your collection will slowly grow and you will soon have lots of little plant babies to tend (and they really are your babies). You watch them thrive all thanks to the love and care you show them. Caring for living things is not only rewarding, but many people find a sense of purpose through this.
You should eat more plants too
Plants contain so many nutrients that are essential to the delicate ecosystem that is your body, and we totally understand that the fast-paced lifestyles we live can make it difficult to nourish your body the way it deserves. That’s why we’ve spent years creating products that provided real, honest nutrition, that not only tastes good but it easy to incorporate in your everyday life. Self-love should come easy, and our Super Greens + Reds is packed full of organic fruits, vegetables, sprouts and herbs that are intended to provide the building blocks needed to support your immune system and provide nourishment for your whole body, so if nothing else, you can know that by adding it to your morning smoothie, juice, or glass of water, you are setting your body up for success!
So what are you waiting for? Incorporate more greenery into your life, whether that be through a new plant for your home, or by ensuring your body is getting the nutrients it needs. Show yourself some loving, treat yourself to that piece of lush greenery you’ve been eyeing off, or do your own research on what plants would work for you (there’s so much information out there). But we warn you, once you start, you won’t be able to stop. Your friends may get sick of you telling them how amazing you feel, your house may very well become a jungle, but it will be your jungle, and if they’re really your friends they’ll be begging you to let them in on your secret. There’s nothing better than making a space that brings you joy and is uniquely yours and creating an external and internal environment that is flourishing.
